After nearly three decades of dedicated service to the communities of Mount Desert and Bar Harbor, Lieutenant Kevin Edgecomb has retired from the Mount Desert Police Department.

Kevin joined the force as a part-time patrolman in 1998, rising through the ranks to sergeant in 2003 and lieutenant in 2013. Throughout his career, he took on numerous roles including animal control officer, field training officer, firearms instructor, and elder service officer — earning Elder Service Officer of the Year honors in 2007. He also served as the department's Public Safety Operations Coordinator and represented the department in liaising with the U.S. Secret Service during two presidential visits to the area.

Kevin was known for his deep connections within the community and his commitment to knowing the people he served — a principle instilled in him early in his career that guided him throughout. He will be greatly missed by his colleagues and the communities he served so well.

We wish Kevin all the best as he begins his next chapter.
