Important Rules
Handicapped Parking
Free in all paid/permit areas with valid placard.
Prohibited Areas
No parking on sidewalks, fire hydrants, or yellow zones.
72-Hour Limit
Maximum parking duration in public lots.

Insert card or coins. Take your receipt (optional).
Paperless System
You do NOT need to display the receipt on your dashboard. Enforcement is done by license plate scanning.

Paid Parking Season
May 15th - October 30th
- Paid parking enforced Mon-Sat, 8am-9pm
- Sundays are noontime to 9pm
- All-day parking in lots
Winter Parking Ban
November 15th - April 15th
No on-street parking allowed during snow storms or removal operations. Violators will be towed.

Pay a Citation
Parking tickets must be paid within 30 days to avoid late fees. Unpaid tickets may result in vehicle booting or towing.

Appeal Process
If you believe a citation was issued in error, you may file an appeal within 14 days of issuance.
- Gather evidence (photos, receipts).
- Complete the online appeal form.
- Wait for review decision (typically 5-7 business days).

Resident Permit
FREEFor year-round residents of Bar Harbor. Allows parking in designated permit lots.
Commercial Fisherman
$5For active commercial fishermen. Provides access to marina parking areas.
Employee Permit
VARIESFor employees of local businesses. Valid in specific long-term lots only.
Eligibility Requirements
- Residency: Must provide proof of residency (lease, utility bill, tax bill).
- Vehicle Registration: Vehicle must be registered in the Town of Bar Harbor.
- No Outstanding Fines: All past parking citations must be paid in full.
