Mental Health Unit Overview
The Bar Harbor-Mount Desert Police Department's Mental Health Unit represents our commitment to providing specialized support for Mount Desert Island community members experiencing mental health crises.
Our Philosophy
Mental health calls represent some of law enforcement's most complex challenges, particularly in our island community where resources can be limited. Our dedicated unit approaches each situation with compassion, understanding that connection to appropriate mental health services, not criminal charges, often provides the best path forward.
Mental Health Liaison
Melissa Tozier
